Feedback Loop: A Collaborative Zine Making Workshop
With Valentina Abenavoli & Joe Paul Cyriac

Overview

While artistic practice often begins as a solitary act, it evolves into a communal experience once shared, encouraging open dialogue, interpretation and engagement. In this workshop, we’ll dive into that intersection of art and community through the hands-on, hearts-on process of making a zine together.

Before we meet, you’ll get a reading and prompts to respond to. It’s up to you how you respond—write, draw, make photos or mix it all up. There are no rules for the medium. It’s about cultivating an ongoing conversation, bringing diverse perspectives into a collective narrative, shaped by the iterative exchange of ideas.

We will have an introductory session online a few days before the in-person meeting. On the first day at the Indian Photo Festival in Hyderabad, we will begin by sharing your responses to the reading and receiving feedback from the group. This back-and-forth will shape the next steps. On the second day, we will move to editing, sequencing and assembling the material into a zine. Expect to mix fundamentals with plenty of experimentation. The workshop is about the process. You’ll get tools, insights and practical experience in creating publications that can be applied across formats and styles.
